‎"c) The teacher may also wish to point out how since the release of the book Forbidden Gates, the #1 transhumanist blog sites, the #1 transhumanist online think tank (IEET), and even the co-author of the US National Science Foundation Report “Ethics of Human Enhancement: 25 Questions and
        95 | P a g e
Answers” (download at www.ForbiddenGate.com) have angrily responded to the Forbidden Gates author’s call for conservative Christians to get involved in the public debate over human enhancement. These voices are making it very clear that, even though their reports are funded by US taxpayers, they do not wish to have certain members of the public, which they describe in their own words as “theists” and “fundamentalist Christians” involved in this deliberation. Thus the war over the control of information—how it is “framed” and by whom it is “published”—is central even to the very study upon which this series of classes are based. Of course it should be apparent to everybody in the class that correct perception of information is central to spiritual warfare.
        2. Some of the concerns, which the writers of Forbidden Gates believe members of the church and society in general need to be aware of includes genetically modified food, synthetic biology, germline engineering and other issues listed on pages 155-166. Of these, which did you find most disturbing, and why?
        a) As the list of nine subjects listed on pages 155-166 would by themselves require several weeks of classes, the teacher may wish to choose one or two subjects from the list to especially focus on. We suggest the teacher at this point also read or have class members read the following statements and verses that will help define what the Christian position or response to genetic re-engineering of humans and other species could be:
        1. All things were created by God and for Him (Colossians 1:16).
        2. We are made in God’s image to follow his plan (Genesis 1:26,27; Matthew 22:20,21).
        3. God created all life according to a divine order and to reproduce after certain “kinds” (Genesis 1:11-25).
        4. Psalm 139 describes creation being design from the womb. Would cloning or germline engineering fall outside God’s design and jeopardize God-consciousness or the soul?
        5. Genesis 3:15 says, “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed *zera, meaning “offspring,”
        96 | P a g e
“descendents,” or “children”+ and her seed.” In a later class we shall discuss how an incredible tenet emerges—that Satan has seed, and that it is at enmity with Christ. Meanwhile, perhaps ask the class if life could be engineered that alters the meaning of “seed” as God designed it and thus be unredeemable? (1 Corinthians 15:22, 23).
        6. There is also the question (even among transhumanists) about whether genetic engineering is playing God or motivated by a defiance of Him. Genesis 11:1-9 and Romans 1:18-32 tells us what happens in this scenario.
        b) The teacher should also point out how supernatural “healing” and protection of believers is central to spiritual warfare and will be increasingly needed by Christians to defend our bodies and minds from the effects of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and other biological hazards. For instance, on pages 155-157 of Forbidden Gates the dangers of genetically modified foods are discussed, yet missionaries for two thousand years have understood the supernatural benefit of praying over their food in accordance with 1 Timothy 4:4-5, which says, “For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified [Greek hagiazō, "purified'] by the word of God and prayer.” Thus new and emerging fields of technology may take such things as praying over meals away from tradition and back to a time when deeper meaning existed within this practice.
        c) Ask the class what they thought of each of the issues raised on pages 155-166. Allow them to discuss the points they wrote down during the week, the dangers or benefits they imagine coming from:
        1. Genetically Modified Food
        2. Synthetic Biology
        3. Patenting New Life Forms
        4. GM Science and Animals Rights
        5. Human Cloning
        6. Redefining Humans and Human Rights
        7. Nanotechnology and Cybernetics
        8. New Eugenics via Transhumanism
        9. Germline Engineering

‎3. Under the subtitle “Heaven and Hell Scenarios,” the authors of Forbidden Gates point out how scientists, philosophers, and bioethicists are coming down on one side or another, believing the genetics revolution and human enhancement herald the dawn of either a utopian age or a dystopian hell. If you had to pick, what would your guess be concerning the ultimate outcome of the grand experiment man has set course on regarding transhumanism and the genetics revolution? In what way can you imagine this becoming a HELL SCENARIO?
        a) Lead the class in a general discussion of the Heaven vs. Hell scenarios represented by modern technology – from genetic engineering and nantotechnology to synthetic biology – which has already began to fashion new forms of life and alter existing ones, and how they can imagine the dangers and benefits.
        b) Make the case that most Christians are not anti-tech “Luddites” and that in fact that, throughout history, the Church has been at the forefront of disease treatment discovery, institutions for health care, hospitals, and other medical schools and research centers. In other words, we do not champion a philosophy toward techno-dystopianism. Indeed, what a day it will be when cancer is cured and we all shout “Hallelujah!”
        c) The teacher may wish to highlight some talking points from the sections in bold below, taken from Prof. Francis Fukuyama’s 2004 Foreign Policy Magazine article, Transhumanism – The World's Most Dangerous Idea:
        By Francis Fukuyama
For the last several decades, a strange liberation movement has grown within the developed world. Its crusaders aim much higher than civil rights campaigners, feminists, or gay-rights advocates. They want nothing less than to liberate the human race from its biological constraints. As "transhumanists" see it, humans must wrest their
        98 | P a g e
biological destiny from evolution's blind process of random variation and adaptation and move to the next stage as a species.
It is tempting to dismiss transhumanists as some sort of odd cult [keep in mind that Fukuyama wrote this in 2004. Transhumanism has since been adopted within government and military circles as a correct vision of the future], nothing more than science fiction taken too seriously: Witness their over-the-top Web sites and recent press releases ("Cyborg Thinkers to Address Humanity's Future," proclaims one). The plans of some transhumanists to freeze themselves cryogenically in hopes of being revived in a future age seem only to confirm the movement's place on the intellectual fringe.
But is the fundamental tenet of transhumanism -- that we will someday use biotechnology to make ourselves stronger, smarter, less prone to violence, and longer-lived -- really so outlandish? Transhumanism of a sort is implicit in much of the research agenda of contemporary biomedicine. The new procedures and technologies emerging from research laboratories and hospitals -- whether mood-altering drugs, substances to boost muscle mass or selectively erase memory, prenatal genetic screening, or gene therapy -- can as easily be used to "enhance" the species as to ease or ameliorate illness.
Although the rapid advances in biotechnology often leave us vaguely uncomfortable, the intellectual or moral threat they represent is not always easy to identify. The human race, after all, is a pretty sorry mess, with our stubborn diseases, physical limitations, and short lives. Throw in humanity's jealousies, violence, and constant anxieties, and the transhumanist project begins to look downright reasonable. If it were technologically possible, why wouldn't we want to transcend our current species? The seeming reasonableness of the project, particularly when considered in small increments, is part of its danger. Society is unlikely to fall suddenly under the spell of the transhumanist worldview. But it is very possible that we will nibble at biotechnology's tempting offerings without realizing that they come at a frightful moral cost.
The first victim of transhumanism might be equality. The U.S. Declaration of Independence says that "all men are created equal," and

the most serious political fights in the history of the United States have been over who qualifies as fully human. Women and blacks did not make the cut in 1776 when Thomas Jefferson penned the declaration. Slowly and painfully, advanced societies have realized that simply being human entitles a person to political and legal equality. In effect, we have drawn a red line around the human being and said that it is sacrosanct.
Underlying this idea of the equality of rights is the belief that we all possess a human essence that dwarfs manifest differences in skin color, beauty, and even intelligence. This essence, and the view that individuals therefore have inherent value, is at the heart of political liberalism. But modifying that essence is the core of the transhumanist project. If we start transforming ourselves into something superior, what rights will these enhanced creatures claim, and what rights will they possess when compared to those left behind? If some move ahead, can anyone afford not to follow? These questions are troubling enough within rich, developed societies. Add in the implications for citizens of the world's poorest countries -- for whom biotechnology's marvels likely will be out of reach -- and the threat to the idea of equality becomes even more menacing.
Transhumanism's advocates think they understand what constitutes a good human being, and they are happy to leave behind the limited, mortal, natural beings they see around them in favor of something better. But do they really comprehend ultimate human goods? For all our obvious faults, we humans are miraculously complex products of a long evolutionary process -- products whose whole is much more than the sum of our parts. Our good characteristics are intimately connected to our bad ones: If we weren't violent and aggressive, we wouldn't be able to defend ourselves; if we didn't have feelings of exclusivity, we wouldn't be loyal to those close to us; if we never felt jealousy, we would also never feel love. Even our mortality plays a critical function in allowing our species as a whole to survive and adapt (and transhumanists are just about the last group I'd like to see live forever). Modifying any one of our key characteristics inevitably entails modifying a complex, interlinked package of traits, and we will never be able to anticipate the ultimate outcome.
        100 | P a g e
Nobody knows what technological possibilities will emerge for human self-modification. But we can already see the stirrings of Promethean desires in how we prescribe drugs to alter the behavior and personalities of our children. The environmental movement has taught us humility and respect for the integrity of nonhuman nature. We need a similar humility concerning our human nature. If we do not develop it soon, we may unwittingly invite the transhumanists to deface humanity with their genetic bulldozers and psychotropic shopping malls.
        4. In what way could you imagine (at least as a mental experiment) emerging technology and human enhancement leading to a HEAVEN SCENARIO?
        a) The teacher may wish to download the U.S. National Science Foundation and Department of Commerce Commisioned Report: Converging Technologies for Improving Human Performance (PDF) from www.ForbiddenGate.com to add to the talking points below, which were envisioned as part of the Heaven Scenario by the government study:
The transhuman body will be “more durable, healthy, energetic, easier to repair, and resistant to many kinds of stress, biological threats, and aging processes.”·
Brain-machine interfacing will “transform work in factories, control automobiles, ensure military superiority, and enable new sports, art forms and modes of interaction between people.·
Engineers, artists, architects, and designers will experience tremendously expanded creative abilities, in part through “improved understanding of the wellspring of human creativity.”
Average persons, as well as policymakers, will have a vastly improved awareness of the cognitive, social, and biological forces operating their lives, enabling far better adjustment, creativity, and daily decision making.
Factories of tomorrow will be organized around “increased human-machine capabilities.”
        101 | P a g e
        5. What do you make of the fact that several of the government experts and reports cited in Forbidden Gates see these Heaven/Hell scenarios (which ever it will be) as risky but unavoidable, even the dawn of a new arms race?"

      • Soup McGee http://www.deliveranceministers.org/PDF%20Articles/Setting_Schizophrenic_Free.pdf "Unlike the way most schizophrenics are treated, we never tried to convince Grady that the voices in his head didn‟t exist. In fact, we believed that they did exist. Our team‟s biggest challenge was convincing Grady that these entities were not his friends, and that God‟s power was greater than theirs. We used our authority to bind, muzzle and gag the spirits, and although they never manifested themselves to us, they spoke to Grady continually trying to sabotage the process. It was important for us to know what they were telling him. When a stronghold was about to be broken, Grady would get very agitated and demanding. “I have to go to the bathroom! I have to go to the bathroom! I have to go to the bathroom right now!” We could hear his side of the conversation from the bathroom. “I know! I know!” he said. “I‟ll just pretend. It‟s all right! We‟ll make sure they think that.” Grady came out of the bathroom and said, “Okay…they‟re gone. We‟re done. They‟re dead.” Each time, we would redirect him back to the reality that they weren’t gone and help him choose again to be free. “Grady, can you see that Michelle is not your friend? She is making your life miserable.” Grady‟s maturation level was very young so we spoke simply and used hand gestures when we spoke. When he was carrying on a conversation with the demons we said slowly, “Stop! We‟re not listening to that! We‟re going to trust God!” We acted out each sentence.
Eventually when the voices spoke to him, Grady would say with hand gestures,
“Stop! We‟re not listening to that! We‟re going to trust God!” --------------

      • Soup McGee After fifteen or twenty minutes Grady would be ready for a break. As soon as we stopped working, he would fall asleep. While he slept, we prayed the healing prayers for schizophrenia over him. We did this repeatedly so that the prayers would be imprinted on his spirit. As a starting place for the deliverance, we used the list of spiritual strongholds for schizophrenia listed in the book Pigs in a Parlor by Frank and Ida Mae Hammond. In this book, Hammond portrays schizophrenia as two hands, one with the stronghold of rejection and the other with a stronghold of rebellion. Each hand lists the demonic branches that stem from those two roots, with paranoia as a type of handcuff that ties to two hands together. We began by dealing with rejection. When we‟d finished with that, we were left with one angry, rebellious teen. In working with children and teens, we always try to keep the experience pleasant so that they never want to run from God or His people. However, as anger erupted in Grady, we had to put up the same firm boundaries that we do with our own teens. “I‟m done!” he‟d say. “I don‟t want to do this!” “Sit down,” we‟d say. “Now…this is what we need to do. We need you to tell us if you really want to get free and be well. It‟s your choice.” He really did want to be free so he‟d settle down and get back to work until the demons got him agitated again. “Excuse me! Stop listening to that demon. That behavior is not acceptable.” We also made a point to pour in God‟s virtue in every place where something was removed from him. In addition to the spirits listed in Pigs in a Parlor, we listened to Grady to find out what other specific things needed to be dealt with. For instance, a few of the demonic entities we dealt with were the microchip, the cop, Michael and Michelle. At first we did all the warfare on his behalf, but as Grady got stronger, we put a demand on him. “No, you make him stop talking.” Eventually we could hear him in the bathroom saying, “Shut up in Jesus‟ name! I don‟t want you!” As he took more control over the demons, his attention span improved. We prayed prayers to heal the trauma in his life, and we also prayed that God would bring him quickly up to his chronological and maturational age.
By the end of our sessions on the second day, we knew we‟d done all we could for
Grady at that time. There was no way his life would ever be the same, but we weren‟t jumping up and down with joy because we knew Michelle wasn‟t gone. This demon had convinced Grady that she was his friend, and Grady was lonely enough that he wasn‟t ready to give her up. “You‟re ultimately going to have to say goodbye to Michelle,” we told him. But in the meantime, we just had to trust God. After Care On the third day the team taught Grady, his mother and her friend what it would take to keep his deliverance. The key points that we taught his mother were as follows :
You cannot ask for change and accept old behavior
You have to make a shift in your mind and treat him differently
Don‟t accept his talking to demons
If it happens a hundred times a day, deal with it a hundred times a day
Expect him to act like a healed person acts
Treat him as though he were a normal young man even if he isn‟t acting like one yet
Pray over him and over his room daily
Plead the blood of Jesus over his mind even while he sleeps
Pray the 91st Psalm over him daily
Grady‟s mother was extremely motivated to see him set free and healed. We told her that the healing process would take time. Until now it had been okay for him to interact out loud with the demons and ignore everyone in the room, but it was no longer okay, so the whole family would have to relate to him in a different manner. The main things we taught Grady were as follows :
You have to trust God to help you find your identity in Christ Jesus
Read the Bible like you‟ve never read it before
Pray in your prayer language daily
        Play praise and worship music
Never speak to demons unless it is to make them leave
They will come back and lie to you. Don‟t believe them!
Don‟t watch television, movies, or listen to music that doesn‟t glorify God
Spend time each day listening to the Holy Spirit
Put on the full armor of God daily
        Focus on Jesus" """""------

IHOP Enters Dominion/Christian Right Politics, Part 2

        By Dr. Orrel Steinkamp

"If Governor Rick Perry (R) of Texas runs for president of the United States, he will have one of the most unusual and specific bases for his platform of any candidate in many decades—the spiritual visions of the ancient Hebrew prophet Joel.

"Perry has jumped on the 'Joel's Army' bandwagon, claiming in his promotional message for his The Response prayer and fasting event in Houston in August....

"The 'response' Perry is talking about is the one Joel 2 calls for when God's people are confronted by an Apocalyptic crisis. In part a call for fasting and prayer, it is also a description of a powerful army of God.

"One group which has for many years taught a theology based on Joel 2's crisis or 'shock doctrine', is the Kansas City prayer organization IHOP (International House of Prayer), headed by Mike Bickle, part of what was known in the 1990s as the Kansas City Prophets, a neo-charismatic movement of Christian 'dominionists', who seek to transform the USA into a Christian theocracy.

"Perry lists several figures associated with IHOP and with TheCall movement, started by IHOP associate Lou Engle, as part of the leadership team for the governor's August 6....

"These self-proclaimed prophets often employ the militaristic rhetoric of Joel 2, which describes a great and destructive Army of God, thus Joel's Army. To fill the ranks of this army, the leaders of the movement target young people and children, and shape their message with raucous (often violent) themes and music, intended to appeal to young people's raw emotions."

"...[A]s the church begins to take on this resolve, they will start to be thought of more as military bases, and they will begin to take on the characteristics of military bases for training, equipping, and deploying effective spiritual forces. In time, the church will actually be organized more as a military force with an army, navy, air force, etc."

      • Soup McGee ‎"READ Part 1: IHOP is starting to feel its Dominion oats

The Rapid Expansion and Franchising and Global IHOP Branding

IHOP began in 2000 in a renovated strip mall on Red Bridge Rd. in Grandville, Kansas City.[1] In the past decade and especially in recent years IHOP ballooned into a major presence in Kansas City. There are roughly 500 people on staff. In 2009 they commenced a world headquarters including a 5000 seat conference center.

In 2009 The Kansas City Star reported that at least 80 homes had been purchased and converted to intern dormitories. The Star also reported that 150 IHOP related families were residing near Grandview. An observer saw a large trailer roaring up the street. It was a family from Minnesota, a husband, wife and two boys. There are numerous programs, conferences, and training tracks located at IHOP. I will refer only to a small number of these: There are four levels of 6-month internship programs. There is IHOPU, which is roughly a 4-year training program which includes a music academy and Lou Engle's TheCall Institute. The Simeon Company is for those 50 and older and the Joseph Company are people in the business world who provide finance, and there is a Children's Ministry Center designed to teach and prepare a second generation of IHOPers. The Star article reported:

IHOP has a "Children's Equipping Center," which, according to the Web site, seeks to mold a million children to lead the next generation, by empowering them "with DNA components that produce in them a holy passion."

Throw in the proportionally heavy infusion of young believers, things such as the "Fire in the Night" internship that meets from midnight to 6 a.m. and a "prenatal soaking room" for expectant mothers and the word "cult" occasionally can be heard in the neighborhood.[2]

There are the core teachings of the 24/7 prayer and worship ministry based on the Tabernacle of David (TOD, discussed in Part 1). Another featured teaching is the Bridal Paradigm.[3] There are a number of anointings taught, and among them are the Shulamite anointing, a reference to the woman lover in Song of Solomon. There is the Hannah anointing, referring to Hannah who spent her time in the temple (1 Samuel chapters 1 and 2).[4] The whole Contemplative Prayer Ministry is also taught. Special weekend conferences for people across the nation and the world are organized and they include "One Thing" conferences, and "Fire in the Night" conferences. And last but not least there are prenatal soaking ministries for pregnant mothers in which they purport to impart new spiritual DNA to their children in the womb preparing a second generation of spiritual warriors (the "elect seed"/"New Breed" teaching).

Charisma magazine reported, in a 11/16/10 article, "We Won't Stop Praying," that the "ministry includes 1,000 full-time staff and 1,000 full-time students at the university, IHOPU, yet each person’s role, function and purpose at IHOP begins entirely in the prayer room," which is heavy on experiential mysticism through music and altered states of consciousness. The article also details how the ministry is "Going Global" with a partnership with heavy-dominionist "mission" group YWAM (Youth With A Mission).[5]

The IHOP goal is to establish IHOP 24/7 prayer rooms and ministries in every major American city and most campuses. At the University of Minnesota (in my own state) there is an UMHOP as an example. They boast at least 200 of these both in the USA and around the world. A continuous flow of free live web streaming flows daily from the KC prayer room and made available around the world to their satellite prayer rooms. Internees are encouraged to become part of establishing these prayer rooms and their 24/7 scheduling. Those trained at IHOPU are slated to give over-all leadership to this expansion. The free web streaming of the IHOP prayer room is sent abroad and is translated into at least 6 major language groups. Young people in many places become designated "apostles" and "prophets," and they are told they are an elite group with special "deep truth" and "special anointings" or spiritual gifts that elevate them above those who aren't as "spiritually mature." This is often how they recruit new members, by promising them heightened spiritual power, not unlike the occult. One former IHOP member gives the following account:

This is a very close paraphrase of what I’ve heard many, many times at One Thing, IHOP conferences and in teachings by leaders:

“YOU are called to be on the cutting edge. Come here and join a community of other people who are like you, called to what you’re called to. We understand you. You’ve been mis-understood in the church. You’ve had your wings clipped, your gifts misunderstood. Here you can fulfill your forerunner calling that your family just hasn’t understood about you. You might feel like you don’t fit back home, you’re on the outside, no one understands the fire in you. Well we get it. You are the leaders that G-d is raising up in these end times and you will be kings and queens on the earth—reigning with Him. You were made for this place. IHOP is an incubator for people like you.”

Narcissistic speeches like this instill a sense of pride, arrogance and elitism in the hearts of youth who hear it and it feeds their need for validation and identity. They run to IHOP, leave their families, join internships…hoping that what they’ve heard is true. They go to IHOP looking for identity…instead of finding it in Jesus.[6][emphasis in original]

This is not all about "prayer." The Charisma article explains how prayer is being turned into activism, and this is the activism that is now becoming overly political:

That long-term generational target is also one of the driving forces behind IHOP’s recently expanded vision to combine 24/7 prayers for justice with 24/7 works of justice until Christ’s return. Of the 75 departments that make up IHOP, more than three-fourths are dedicated to action outside the prayer room—everything from orphan care to crisis response to inner-city ministry to training marketplace leaders. This is in addition to a thriving worship label, music school, conference ministry, media institute, Israel initiative, children’s and high school ministries, and an ever-increasing list of other ministries making their mark.[7]

The leaders have equipped their rapidly growing "Joel's Army" of grassroots activists with a passion for Dominionism:

“If your idea is that people are just sitting there in the prayer room, you’re missing the point. You have to have a revelation of what’s happening in that room or it’s just sitting there,” Bickle tells me before we enter the prayer room for an intercessory set he’s leading with Edwards. As if following a script, we walk in right as she sings what’s become the cry of an entire army of worshippers: How far will you let me go? / How abandoned will you let me be? [8]---------"
